Providing direct assistance, counseling, and guidance to stroke survivors and their families across Liberia.

Awareness Campaigns

Educating communities on stroke warning signs, risk factors, and the critical importance of timely medical response.

Civic Education

Empowering communities with health literacy, prevention knowledge, and advocacy skills to protect lives.

Community Outreach

Reaching underserved communities in Montserrado County and beyond with life-saving information and support services.

Who We Are

A Liberian Voice for
Stroke Survivors

NASSAL is a registered not-for-profit organization based in Montserrado County, Liberia. We are a community-led, survivor-centered organization dedicated to addressing the devastating impact of stroke in a country where neurological care remains critically scarce.

With no neurologists currently practicing in Liberia, stroke survivors face compounding challenges: delayed treatment, lack of rehabilitation services, medication shortages, and social isolation. NASSAL bridges this gap through peer support, community education, and sustained advocacy.

Community Education

Structured health literacy programs bringing prevention knowledge, risk factor awareness, and healthy lifestyle guidance to communities.

Advocacy

Advocating at civic and governmental levels for improved stroke care, neurological services, and healthcare policy reform in Liberia.

Rehabilitation Guidance

Providing guidance and resources to help survivors access rehabilitation services and develop home-based recovery strategies.

Family & Caregiver Support

Training and supporting families and caregivers with practical skills, emotional guidance, and ongoing community connection.

Why Our Work Matters

Liberia Faces a
Silent Crisis

Stroke is the leading cause of adult disability and a major cause of death across Sub-Saharan Africa. In Liberia, the absence of neurologists, scarce rehabilitation services, and limited public awareness make every stroke a potentially catastrophic event.

NASSAL stands in the gap — providing community-based education, peer support, caregiver training, and advocacy to reduce stroke mortality and improve quality of life for survivors and their families.
